Painting is done and things are going back on the walls! Still need new curtains and new heaters. And to clean the carpets.

Got the dining room done yesterday. It’s so nice and easy to do since it’s so small. I was very sad to paint over the old green, but there was no way we could make it work. The new colour is much more grown up (which I think is code for boring) but it looks nice anyway. Just not vibrant. Starting the living room today!

George
Or maybe this is his brother Fred? The boys keep bugging us about getting pets, and well it looks like we have a few! Cleaning off the deck this weekend we rediscovered Fred and George. Much bigger than last time. They are about 2″ from the tip of the front legs to the tip of the back ones. Ick.

We are couchless. The one we had went into one of the 40yd garbage bins brought in to the co-op for Spring Clean Up. We had to saw the end off to get it out the front door. When we moved in we had to hoist it up over the balcony, but I didn’t want to take it out that way.
Our new couch is coming on the 29th. That’s 3 more weeks without seating in our living room. It’s a pain in the butt. Here is a very bad image of what the new couch looks like:

Couch
Only it won’t be white. It will be a lovely green. But unfortunately the green of the couch won’t go with the green of the walls (Behr colour “Rolling Hills” if you are interested…) so the walls must be repainted. This makes me a little sad because the bright green makes me so happy! The new colour is going to be much darker, though the dining room will be much lighter.

Swatches
This is the fabric sample for the couch, and the paint samples for the wall. We are doing the living room in the darkest colour, and the dining room in the lightest. These colours don’t look anything like they do on this monitor, though, but it gives a rough idea…

One good thing to come out of having a dormant blog - my daily spam has gotten almost nonexistent! If only it would translate to my email. 300+ per day right now on the Oswell one. What’s with that, Mike?

So I had decided when I finally got my ass in gear and got this blog back up that I was going to update it. Regularly. Like a few times a week. Somehow 4 months have come and gone with nary a peep from me. It’s not that there is nothing to say, and in fact I have created many many posts in my head that have never made it past my fingertips. This is going to change, as of now. Promise.

As usual, I have a list of things to do longer than my arm. And none of it is getting done. Well, that’s not true. I finally got around to doing something about the look of this blog. And I tried to do something about moving all my archived entries over, but I had intermittent network connectivity today and still can’t connect to my server.
So basically I’m doing nothing. But I don’t want to be. Three Bags Full had their belated boxing day sale last weekend and Katherine and I went. We stood in line for about 20 minutes to get in, and then after grabbing some of what we wanted on the way to the line up, managed to make it through the paying line an hour after we got in. I got yarn to knit this and for Christmas I got yarn (piquant green) to knit this. I also got yarn at Three Bags Full’s last anniversary sale to knit this for Kevin. I’m itching to start them all!!
Unfortunately, before I can I have to finish this and these as well as this sweater that I was going to have done in three days (started two weeks ago).

I guess it wasn’t enough that I spent 5 hours out shovelling on Wednesday. I know most people are sick of it by now, but I am loving it! We have almost 2 feet of snow! Unfortunately tonight it is going to turn to rain, and is going to absolutely dump on us for the next week at least.

Snow
One of our handier neighbours got the co-op snow blower going on Wednesday as well. It hadn’t been used in at least 8 years, or even started in at least 5. Kevin took it out today for a bit to clear the sidewalks. I had started shoveling them, when the snow first started. I shovelled at least a foot of snow off. But it was SO much work, and no one came out to help. After the third time doing it I gave up. The snow blower does a pretty good (if noisy) job.

This summer I decided that it was time to get a new computer. As much as I love my laptop, it’s 3 years old and just doesn’t have the power to do much of what I want to do. Three months later, the hard drive in my new computer crapped out. I lost a whole pile of email, a few documents, and some vacation pictures. It wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been, but it hurt none the less. Replacing the hard drive was no problem, but I haven’t had much time to deal with it and have almost nothing installed yet. I have the basics, my browser, email, ftp, and media player classic. I haven’t even done the printer drivers yet, so I have to ftp anything I want to print over to my laptop to print it.
One of these days I’ll get it done. It is frustrating having a half set up computer, though I’ve no one to blame but myself. I’m too busy knitting right now to do much else. I need to do laundry and make butter tarts today. I was going to see if I can add a picture easily to my post, but I have no pictures on this computer yet. They are all on my laptop. Guess I need to get busy!

It’s a winter wonderland here in Vancouver today. Unfortunately it puts a bit of a kaibosh on my shopping plans for this morning. I’m not sure what is the worse option, taking Phaedra out on the bus sans stroller or driving in the snow with the crappy Vancouver drivers. Must get to the yarn store though. I need a new scarf!
